New IHIP Research PartnershipBuilding the Next Generation of Climate-Conscious Infrastructure Contracts

1 April 2026/ Non classé /szerzõ: IHIP

Geneva, 1st of April 2026
IHIP and Toulouse INP welcome Laurence Hamai for a research internship on biodiversity and carbon integration.

We are pleased to announce a new collaboration between the International Humanitarian Infrastructure Platform (IHIP) and the Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse (Toulouse INP) through the signing of a new internship agreement focused on sustainable and resilient infrastructure delivery.

From April to October 2026, As part of the Mastère Spécialisé Eco-Ingénierie, Laurence Hamai will contribute to a strategic research and development initiative entitled:

“Methodology for Integrating Biodiversity & Carbon Indicators into Construction Contracts.”

Laurence already brings valuable field and sector experience to this initiative, having previously participated in IHIP contract committee activities and worked as a WASH engineering expert with Oxfam International very recently in Chad, Ukraine, and multiple other locations during the last decade. Her combined operational and sustainability background will help strengthen the practical relevance of the work developed during the internship.
The internship will explore how biodiversity and carbon indicators can be practically integrated into infrastructure procurement and contract management processes across:
• humanitarian infrastructure projects,
• public sector construction projects,
• and international contract frameworks such as FIDIC, NEC and IHIP forms of contract.

The work will focus on:
🌍 Building a library of sustainability indicators and dialogue frameworks
📑 Integrating indicators into contractual workflows and clauses
🤝 Facilitating collaboration between NGOs, donors, public authorities and private sector actors
🛠 Developing prototype tools and methodologies supporting measurable impact in project delivery.

This collaboration reflects IHIP’s ongoing commitment to bridging humanitarian action, infrastructure delivery and sustainability innovation through practical operational tools and cross-sector partnerships.

We warmly welcome Laurence Hamai to the IHIP ecosystem and look forward to contributing together to the next generation of resilient and climate-conscious infrastructure delivery approaches.
